Abstract EN

The study has investigated the concept, features and markers (case system) of Arabic noun in addition to grammarians’ arguments over the noun.Adopting descriptive method, the study aims to explore the Arabic grammarians’ views on noun in terms of concept and derivation and highlight noun markers which differentiate it from other forms.The study concluded that the best definition of a noun is that set by the new grammarians who established the noun as the most important word in a sentence and the first thing to be learned in Arabic language.

Noun has many markers but they never come together in a single word.

They only appear in the case of predication which is regarded as one of the substantial features that denote a noun.
