Abstract EN

This study deals with the subject of the relative clause in Swahili language, it begins with a theoretical introduction which presents the concept of relative clause among the linguists generally, and the Swahili linguists particularly, and types of relative clause and linguistic features that characterize the relative clause, and distinguish it from other linguistic structures.

It then presents the concept of relative clause in Swahili language and its structure, using tabular analysis method with a description of the different patterns of this type of relative clause in Swahili sentence.

Finally, it presents the grammatical functions performed by the relative clause in Swahili sentence in an attempt to highlight the relations between the relative clause and other language units within the large sentence which helps to understand the sentence in general and to recognize the relationships between the various elements.
