Abstract EN

This research addresses a literary and critical phenomenon that was widespread in the Mamluki age.

It is the phenomenon of “Taqrith” (Praise) among scholars.

The research starts with an introduction about the art of praise.

Then, it provides a biography of the author of “Nuzul Al Ghaith” book Abu Bakir Ad Damamini (died in 827 A.H.).

It also investigates a manuscript of 12 encomiums in praise of this book written by his contemporary scholars in the eighth and ninth Hijra centuries.

These scholars enjoyed a critical and literary reference and authority.

We also mentioned their life accounts towards the end of this research.

Ad Damamini’s book was written in response to the book titled, “ Al Ghaith Al Musajam fi Sharh lamiyyat al Ajam” by Salah Ad Din As Safadi.

On one hand, these scholars have enthusiastically praised and extolled Ad Damamini’s book by highlighting its literary and critical aspects; on the other hand, they waged a large scale campaign against As Safadi and his book.
