English Abstract

The study examined some of the environmental determinants of Haweezah marsh in Maysan Governorate and their suitability for irrigation, drinking and animal consumption for the period (2013-2014).

By analyzing the results of the characteristics, we found that their variation during the seasons.

Where the value of (PH) take a base side, except for the winter of the year (2013) where it took the value of the acid side, and it is within the environmental determinants for the purpose of irrigation and drinking.

In term of the total salts amount it was found to be outside the environmental determinants for the purpose of drinking.

While for animal consumption, it fluctuated between the good in summer season (2013) and the autumn season (2014), While it was allowed to be used in the seasons (Winter and spring) for the period (2014-2014) and the summer season in 2014, and through the results of the electrical conductivity, we noticed that it was outside the environmental determinants for drinking and irrigation, And that the water when used for irrigation (salinity risk) for Haweezah marsh in the winter and spring seasons (2013-2014), as well as in the summer for the year (2014) within the category (C4), which is very high saline water and it is not suitable for irrigation only for crops with high tolerance of salinity and the soil needs to continuous drainage operations and careful care.

While the water of Haweezah marsh recorded in the summer of 2013 and the autumn of 2014 specifications within category (C5) which is not suitable for irrigation.

In addition, Nitrate ratios were also recorded among environmental determinants for the purpose drinking.

While the Phosphates for Haweezah marsh for the period 2013-2014 were among the environmental determinants for the purpose of drinking, except for the winter season (2013), except for winter (2013), it was recorded a higher value for environmental determinants for drinking.

Through the results of Magnesium for Haweezah marsh we note that it is outside the environmental determinants for the purpose of drinking, in comparison with the Iraqi determinants and standards of drinking water, In comparison to the international standards (WHO), we find that the water of Haweezah marsh `for the winter and spring seasons of 2013 and winter of 2014 within the environmental determinants for the purpose of drinking, And the rest of the seasons were outside the determinants, and its value was classified within (good and very good) limits for animal consumption, the value of Sulphates for irrigation and drinking purposes fluctuates during seasons, and they were out of the permissible limits for irrigation and drinking purposes, and their specifications for the purpose of animal consumption within the allowed limits for use for the period (2013-2014), except summer season for the year (2013) were it was within the category (good for use).
