Abstract EN

This research deals with the function of grammatical ellipsis in Arabic.

In an effort to highlight the role of syntax in determining the estimated grammar function, through Arabic examples and evidences, supported by statements of linguists and grammarians.

The research dealt with, at first, defining ellipsis linguistically and idiomatically.

Then showing its importance in Arabic grammar, as the main means of grammarians when analyzing the grammatical structures that one of its components was deleted.

And return it to its origin to confirm to the rules of Arabic grammar that were agreed on.

The research has focused on the role of syntax in determining the grammatical function occupied by the elliptical element , through syntactic inflections (movements or characters) or the syntactic position.

The research has come to the conclusion that the elliptical element has a grammatical function.

It is as important as the other obvious grammatical functions.

It may also have a role.

And syntax has an important role in determining the grammatical function, through the left apparent of verbal impact, as a sign of inflectional recalling its role or inflectional position requires occupancy, its pronunciation will be fixed, and its meaning will be clear
