Abstract EN

ABSTRACT This research studies the relation of kings of late Assyrian kingdoms( 911 – 612 BC ) with the Mannaeans.

The research is made of three parts in addition to the introduction and the conclusion.

Part one is to give a brief review of the Mannaeans.

Parts two and three are devoted to show the relation of those kings of the first and second late Assyrian kingdom with the Mannaeans.

The research showed that the Mannaeans belonged to the people of the Asiaie family who lived south of Aromia lake , known nowadays as Iranian Kurdstan .

Assyr Nassir bal , the second(833 – 860 BC ) was the first Assyrian king who had relations with the Mannaeans based on subjecting them to his power at the beginning of his era .

Then , the Mannaeans were either partially or fully subjected to the rule of the Assyrian kings and sometimes they were out of the control of those kings .

that situation continued till 660 BC i.e.

till they were subjected again by Assyr Banibal (668 – 627 BC ).

After that they kept on their political link do the Assyrians till the end of the late Assyrian kingdom .

Often , their mutiny on the Assyrian authority occurred because of foreign forces particularly Urrtu in Armenia .

It was also shown that Assur kings differ in their reaction to the disobedience of the Mannaeans from time to time .

Some of those kings did nothing and some reacted violently towards that while other treated the problem wisely and even forgave the mutinous Manai rulers and their followers in return of their coming back to the Assyrian sovernity.
