Abstract EN

Under the title “The Role of Religion in the Public Sphere”, the two Iranian researchers Hussein Ghafari and Masoumeh Behram present a study which sheds light on the role of religion in the public sphere as viewed by the contemporary German philosopher Jurgen Habermas.

By displaying the philosophical principles and premises which Habermas adopted throughout his early and later ideological career, the two researchers examine the development of Habermas’s outlook to religion.

The main purpose of this study is to present a critical analysis of Habermas’s views and theories on the role of religion in the public sphere, and this is achieved through resorting to a methodology for analyzing the content and conducting a comparative critical study of his opinions.
