In his essay “Post-Secularism and the Atheism Phenomenon: A Critical Inspection of the Arab Case”, the Egyptian intellectual Ahmad Abd Al-Halim Atiya examines the common ground between atheism and secularism and its ensuing consequences.

The historical Arab case which Professor Atiya takes as basis in his study represents the correlation of secularism in its different states and meanings with atheism.

For example, in this context he presents three movements which form the total image of secularist and atheist thought in the Arabian and Islamic worlds: The first one proceeds from the epistemological foundations of Western atheism, the second one arises from a Wahhabi basis as expressed by the writings of the Saudi Arabian writer Abdullah Al-Qosaimy, and the third movement is one which Professor Atiya doesn’t consider to be real atheism and which was expressed in the 1920’s in the Cairo magazine “Al-‘Usur” owned by Isma’il Mathhar.

Le penseur egyptien Ahmed abdel-Halim Attiyeh traite la question suivante: «le postsecularisme et le phenomene de Patheisme - vision critique du cas arabe».

Dans cette etude, Attiyeh traite le champ commun entre Patheisme et la secularisation, et ses effets.

Le cas historique arabe sur lequel Petude de Attiyeh repose, est le phenomene de correlation entre Patheisme et la secularisation avec ses differentes phases et significations.

Dans ce cadre, il decrit trois courants qui ont forme la figure globale de la reflexion seculariste atheiste dans les deux mondes arabe et musulman.

Le premier courant part des fondements epistemologiques de Patheisme occidental; le deuxieme part d’une base wahhabite exprimee par les ecrits du chercheur saoudien Abdallah Quossaymi; le troisieme courant, qui n’est pas congu par Attiyeh comme atheisme au sens typique du terme, est exprime par la revue «les ages» (A1 oussour) d’lsma'il Mazhar pendant les annees 1920.
