Abstract EN

This paper examines the ongoing tension in Saudi-Iranian relations.

It seeks to forecast its course based on a number of internal, regional and international dimensions.

The article argues that the existing tension between Iran and Saudi Arabia derives from a ‘complex conflict,’ involving primarily strategic differences, which shape each actor’s political behavior as can be gleaned from diverse disputations.

This level of complexity has contributed to the drawing of dangerous ‘battle lines’ and the presence of fault-lines in the regional geostrategic landscape, affecting inter-state relations beyond Iranian-Saudi bilateral relations.

In the foreseeable future, Iranian- Saudi relations will continue to impact the state of international affairs and the state of geostrategic play in their neighborhood, and perhaps even beyond the Middle East
