Abstract EN

Inadequacy of the Turkish-Iranian economic relations from the required level despite significant steps taken in the 2000’s indicates there are a number of impediments hindering the cooperation.

After the analysis of what Turkey- Iran economic cooperation means for both countries, in this article the impediments hindering this cooperation are scrutinized followed by the analysis through tangible data about developmental state of the economic relations.

In this context, it is concluded that the foreign policy approach that champions economic co-operation exists only in some certain periods.

Moreover, political issues experienced and negative impact reflected from global actors like U.S.

impeded Turkey-Iran economic cooperation.

Finally, the periodic variations are analyzed based on the development of commerce between Turkey and Iran
