This study aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of "class teacher" program at Yarmouk University in preparing pre-service teachers to practice effective science teaching skills assuming that their teaching practices in real-life science classrooms give real picture about the effectiveness of this program in enabling students to practice these skills.

The study sample consists of 12 pre-service female teachers from those who were enrolled in practical education program in the second semester of the academic year 2015- 2016.

An observation card consisting of 50 items was developed.

Each item represents one of effective science teaching skills.

These skills were distributed among seven major domains, which are planning, organizing to understanding-based learning, analyzing and understanding the content, implementation of the lesson, evaluation and feedback, communication, and keeping discipline in the classroom.

After making sure of the validity and the reliability of the tool, it was applied to observe teaching science practices inside the classrooms and the data were inserted into a quaternary scale showing the skill performance level.

Findings revealed that the program had a low effectiveness level on making pre service teachers able to practice skills related to: analyzing and understanding the content, implementation of the lesson, and the evaluation process.

However, it had a moderate effectiveness level on: planning, organizing understanding-based learning, effective communication, and on keeping the discipline in the classroom.

The study recommends the need to reconsider the plan of the program to insure giving the pre-service teachers the ability to practice the necessary skills for effective science teaching.
