Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court pointed out that the States Parties have a primary responsibility to investigate and punish international crimes, and to ensure that public trials are fair and consistent with the internationally agreed principles of human rights, and it noted the importance of cooperation between the Court, the United Nations, the States Parties and international and regional organizations as a key element to achieve operating efficiency and effectiveness of the Court.
