Abstract EN

Soleiman Al-Isa is one of the contemporary Arab poets who belive in committed and purposeful literature and fight agaist false and evil deeds with their works.

That is why he never remains silent in front of the political and social problems of the Arab world and focuses his attention on the biggest problem in that area which is the occupation of Palestine by the Zionist regime.

In his resistance poems, he uses natural symbols to deepen the meaning, express emotions and imagine fantasies.

Fear from imprisonment and terror is the main reason for his use of symbols in resistance poems.

This study investigates the natural symbols and their significations in the divan of Me and Qods written by the Syrian poet Soleiman Al-Isa with a descriptive analytic method.

The poet has used many natural phenomena such as wind, spring, night, morning, wolf, fire, and colors to signify his thoughts, emotions, and feelings.

He has paid attention to the history of Arab nation and their culture and religion while using these symbols.

For instance, the green color which is sacred in the arab culture and religion has been used as a symbol fir the freedom of Palestine.

These symbols have been able to express the emotions and fantasies of the poet.

These symbols have protected him from the risk of imprisonment and terror.

However, they have not induced ambiguity and complexity in his resistance poems.

The poems are simple and easy to understand and the reader can get the meanings completely.
