Abstract EN

The establishment of the investment project has several objectives, in the forefront is the economic, financial and social fields, and in order to achieve these objectives there must be an economic feasibility study to identify all of the indicators and criteria used in the evaluation to have a firm decision in the establishment of the project or not.

The plastic industry project supports the national economy in a variety of products, as these industries produce a wide spectrum of consumer products that are commonly used in all aspects of daily life.

Whether a short-term use as in the case of products of containers with lids, and single-use drinking and medication bottles, or the long- term use, making the plastic products a part and parcel of the final product, as the case in manufacturing of equipment, athletics and interior headliner for cars, and those within the electronic industry and home furniture, and what is being used in manufacturing of laboratory equipment and medical supplies.

The industrial sector in Iraq like any other sectors, is hit with laziness and inactivity as the number of working firms declined due mostly to the aging of its machines and equipment, and the failure to keep pace with the accelerated technological development in the world industry sector to a significant level, thus, importing has become the only solution.

This retreat and deterioration in the industry impacted negatively on the productive process which led to the weakening of the domestic product capacity in competition with imported products and this largely affect the balance of payment.

This excessive use of plastic products accredited to importing will lead to the accumulation of large quantities of plastic waste without recycling.

Therefore, the industrial sector is in need of a catalyst that will yield a new livelihood.

The project production of plastic bags and mugs is a suitable catalyst if taken into consideration, the nature of the final product and consumer attribute, in line with the notion of all that is produced is sold.

Accordingly, the search was divided into two chapters, Chapter I: dealt with plastic industries and its role in the national economy, and the crafting and methods of manufacturing the plastic.

Chapter II: addressed the feasibility study of the project production of plastic bags and mugs, and the indicators and criteria for the evaluation of the project.

Then the research reached several conclusions that reinforced, as a whole, the importance of the establishment of the project and its location of the industrial sector.

Eventually it ended with several recommendations that focused on the general framework and the importance of the establishment of the project under consideration, and the establishment of supported projects, and creating a favorable investment environment to set up for the projects.
