Abstract EN

The concept of commitment has widely spread in literary discourse and critics of the western world as well as modern Arab since several decades ago, it remains among the most attractive vocabularies, and if we looked for the source of this word or its equivalent in the Arab heritage we'll see that it's an old term because literary history tells us the status of the poet in the tribe, and the effectiveness of the word in the community.

And while the concept of commitment in western world has recently taken boundaries drawn by literary and philosophical doctrines like socialism and existentialism, it is in Arabic literature where necessity dictated by the conditions of Arab societies under colonialism, imposed on writers, who saw that art has a message and only by accomplishing it satisfaction is gained.

This idea dominated them to the point that they have abandoned their self cases, and sacrificed their personal feelings, and held issues of the homeland and the nation, and this is what this research will display in relation to one of the poets of the Algerian national movement whose name is (Mohammed Laid Al- Khalifa).
