Abstract EN

This research involves the study of the influence of cathodic protection method using the sacrificing pole manner (zinc E Zn = -0.76v) on the resistance of corrosion and the erosion corrosion of carbon steel average (CK 50) used in impeller of the submerged pumps .The Samples were prepared from metal (dimensions, 0.2X1.5X1 0.5 cm) for the purpose of testing the electrochemical corrosion and erosion corrosion in river water that was syphoned by water pump.

The corrosion test was carried out using the potensiostat method and Tafel’s method to calculate (corrosion voltage and current density corrosion).

The corrosion by erosion has also been tested using erosion corrosion device at exposure angles (45˚,30˚,15˚)and the most influential angle was (15˚) .

A dedicated sensitive scale was also used to calculate the difference in the metal weight, which represents the quantity of dissolved material as a result of corrosion.
