Abstract EN

This research deals with the terms used by Al-Farabi in his book (Al-Huruf) and his way to clarify them, comparison with Aristotle’s way, who is the author of the certified reference in his book, in light of translation from other languages.

The research depends on analytical descriptive method to present some of the terminologies as a sample from Al-Farabi’s book.

The analysis aimed at monitoring the colloquial meanings and its relation to scientific meaning in different contextual levels and constructive structure.

In addition, the research shows the different phases of the terms in Al-Farabi’s book through moving from general terms to the more specific ones, and from physical meanings to mental meanings to harmonize between the Arabic linguistics terminology and the Greek thought which acquired the translated scientific terminology new dimensions for Al-Farabi’s culture, and his holistic view to the translation process
