Electronic bracelet is deemed among the major new technologies in penal policy arena.

This system proved to be successful in many countries in tackling demerits of freedom- depriving penalties viewed by many as futile in convicts reformation, causing them grave social and psychological harm.

Electronic bracelet is an attempt to utilize modern technology in reintegrating convicts into community through allowing their engagement in society while being monitored by criminal justice bodies.

Electronic bracelet consists of an electronic remote tracking system allowing monitoring of convicts while in their houses by means of a device attached to their wrists or ankles.

Study hence aims to throw spotlight on the electronic bracelet system as a novel technique in executing freedom-depriving penalties.

Study sets forth development of the technique, definition, mechanisms of electronic tracking implementation and viability of incorporating the system in Egyptian and other Arab procedural systems.
