The research seeks to examine the form of referring to the article used to indicate previous knowledge (Al-ahdiyyah) that leads to textual cohesion.

The research also illustrates the three types of al- ahdiyyah: remembarance, mentality and presence, highlighting its role in textual cohesion and coherence in the discourse and determining the exact meaning.

It is worth mentioning that research is based on the books of linguists and grammarians who elaborate on al-ahdiyyah and its reference moreover, the research depends on the books of exegesis and the sciences of the Quran that illustratewords connected with al-ahdiyyahand its role in textual cohesion and coherence.
