Abstract EN

This study examines the constitutional framework of the presidential system in Turkey and sheds light on the historical background that has paved the way for the transition into the presidential system.

The issue had been debated for decades in Turkey’s political life before transcending the parliamentarian model crisis, ending the bureaucratic tutelage, ensuring democratic transformation, establishing political and economic stability, and realizing fast and effective administration.

It can be said that the republican presidential system is the most important fruit of the harmony that took place in the political scene after the failed coup attempt on July 15, 2016.

This study also addresses various aspects of the presidential republican system that have emerged in the current constitutional design and explains a number of powers and modifications in the recent constitutional amendments٫
