Abstract EN

This study aims to highlight the role of the governance in the banking sector as the main sector for development, and the effective role played by the principles and mechanisms of the governance in increasing the efficiency of its performance, and to identify the role of supervisory authorities in Algeria in laying the foundations of the governance on the banking sector level through a series of laws and regulations that contribute in achieving good governance for banks.

And concluded that the need to create awareness the rules of the governance, which is the fundamental basis of activating them and remove them to take effect, and the development of laws and regulations according to international best practices and the preparation of legal and regulatory frameworks necessary to apply especially with regard to the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision standards, as well as work to create committees of governance at the level of each bank, these committees and be under the supervision of the Central Bank
