Abstract EN

This research assumes a broader discourse analysis that does not end with the text itself, but goes beyond it to look into the basis on which it was written, i.e., coherence.

On this account, argumentation will be one of the elements of this analysis using the pragmatic approach that proceeds from the external factors to the internal factors.

This argumentation establishes a real pragmatic plan whose goal is to move the discourse from the speaker to the addressee.

Through the plan itself, we can comprehend its operational mechanisms, in view of the fact that as a whole the argumentation is a compelling message reaching the addressee for the purpose of linking him directly to the external world.

Therefore, this research examines argumentation within discourse analysis and the way its tools are functioning on the discourse itself using linguistic and paralinguistic elements.

This research uses Sūrat Yūsuf as a corpus to explore how the argumentation operates in the discourse using Muḥammad al-Ṭāhir Ibn ʿĀshūr’s book al-Taḥrīr wa-l-Tanwīr (The Book of Liberation and Enlightenment).
