Abstract EN

In the fifth century of the Islamic calendar, Baghdad witnessed many manifestations of takfiri-related chaos amongst the various Islamic groups.

This chaos lead to many killings and spilling of blood and wars among the rival Islamic groups.

Imam Ghazali, who arrived in Baghdad at the end of the fourth century of the Islamic calendar, aimed to address and remedy this chaos so he wrote many books and articles regarding takfir and its conditions and constraints and the qualifications needed for the scholar who can pronounce it.

His opinion was distinguished among scholars of his time and affected those scholars that came after him; perhaps the reasons for his distinct perspective are: expansive knowledge, going beyond the confines of tradition, and his many encounters and discussions with various non-Islamic groups
