Abstract EN

The rentier economic crisis is considered as a main cause of successive civil wars in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Since the beginning of 1990’s, the country had suffered from deep structural and functional disequilibria.

Such economic dysfunctions had various features, such: the destruction of extractive sectors and bank system, the expansion of illegal economy.

All those negative symptoms had a profound effect on the patrimonial stability that had been established by Mobutu system; also, it had provoked violence across the country.

This article will shed the light on the backgrounds of the crisis, its features and its effect on the security equation.
