La ville d’Alger a connu une croissance urbaine sans précédent après l’indépendance.
La maîtrise de cette extension constitue un enjeu majeur pour les autorités publiques.
Depuis la fin des années 1980, cette croissance urbaine prend la forme d’un étalement linéaire suivant les grands axes routiers qui s’est traduit par une consommation excessive des terres à hautes potentialités agricoles en dépit d’un dispositif législatif mis en place après l’indépendance pour préserver le patrimoine agricole.
L’objectif de cette étude est de déterminer les grands axes d'urbanisation et leurs impacts sur l’espace agricole dans les municipalités de Hammadi et Bab Ezzouardans la banlieue est d’Alger,en utilisant les systèmes d'information géographique et la télédétection.
