After the Britton Woods Agreement 1944,the US Dollar occupied a prominent place in the World Economy, to replace gold and sterling as a principal instruments of payment in international transactions, and a principal reserve currency.

By 1999, the Euro currency appeared as a strong competitor for the USD in the view of the status in which enjoyed by the Euro-zone economy in the world.

This concurrence has affected on the stability of the international monetary system that prompted some countries to create other currency in objective to replace the U.S.

currency.

But, in spite of this fact, the dollar remains also the stronger currency in the world.
