Abstract EN

The “Exile castle diary : Prison letters (1972-1980)” is a set of letters that were written by the author to his French wife and his friends which were collected and printed in a book in France.

With the help of one of his associates, they translated the book to Arabic titled “diary”.

Later, he added “literary genre” as a subtitle.

When we look at the title of this work, we find “diary” and then the “letters”.

To which genre does this work relate? Who is the author? Why he merges between the two genres in the title before the text? What is the motive of the work? Does the merge in the title was set for attracting, appointing, or misleading? Does the author use only the two literary genres? From these queries, I start reading this work for pointing the quality of the work to stand on the aesthetic of literary genre dialogues in art in general and focusing in “exile castle diary”.

I started this paper with an introduction about the author and his book.

This, I studed and analyzed the literary genres in his work.

During our study of this work, I was looking to identify the best response to these demands: 1.

Why did the author “Abdulatif Al Loabi” titled this work a diary even though it started as letters? 2.

How was the author able to set his letters in narration essay in general, and autobiography essay in specific? 3.

What is the aesthetic value on which we see from literary genre dialogues in this diary? The outcome of my study and analysis of this work are: 1.

The author was fully aware of the process of literary genres interaction while he was writing the book and publish it.

Literary genres in the work are highly consistent.

In this work, we found both the literary genres and genres in dialogue.

In such work, the determination of the literary genres depends on both the manifest of the author and the vision of the analyst.

The ratio varies based on awareness of the reader, the background social and cultural patters.
