Abstract EN

Memory in the Flesh (thaakiratu-l-jasad), an Arabic novel written by the Algerian novelist Ahlam Mustaghamni, was published by Dar al-Adab in 1993 and was reprinted six times within two years.

It is a novel which is haunted by verse in its title, narrative techniques, and textual embodiment.

This study is an attempt to delve into only one layer of this interesting and enthralling work of fiction as represented by its level of poeticness, with a view to unraveling the extent to which this poeticness contributes to upgrading the novel's quality and popularity among readers.

This perusal is done without aggressing on the genre and without damaging the line of the narrative and fictional event in the novel.
