Abstract EN

This study aims to expose complaint phenomenon in Ibn Al-Haddad AlAndalusy poetries, with dependency on psychological method.

The study found that the poet used to depend on defense mechanism for the unconsciousness which was presented by Freud’s study of interpreting dreams.

The most important of these defense mechanisms are symbolization, displacement, fantasy, reaction formation, condensation and sublimation.

The study concluded that the complaints of Ibn Al-Haddad were presented in two frames; the complaint of political power and the complaint of his own social status.

He relied on defense mechanism to ease his unconsciousness pain; as he felt neglected by Almutasim Bin Sumadeh and Almoqtader Bin Houd.

Ibn Al-Haddad also complained about the abandonment of his beloved “Nowayra”, as well as his complaint of people’s betrayal, and many envious and competitors who attached his poems.

Despite of his direct complaint sometimes, Ibn Al-Haddad relied on using a language that presented him as a smart and deceptive person.
