Abstract EN

The study aimed to identify the possibility of applying the principles of Six Sigma at the oil companies in the Republic of Yemen, case study of Aden Refinery Company.

In order to achieve the objectives of the study, a number of hypotheses had been formulated, as well as designing a questionnaire form which was distributed to a sample consisting of 120 individuals.

The study adopted the descriptive and analytical method through using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) program to analyze its data.

The study main findings indicated that Aden Refinery Company is committed to apply the principles of Six Sigma.

Regarding the dimensions of Six Sigma, the overall goal of the organization was awarded the first place; followed by the statistical measurement; and in the third place came the “management system” dimension.

The study also showed the existence of a statistically significant difference between trends in the study sample regarding the application of Six Sigma, which can be attributed to job characteristics, age, educational level, and experience.

The most important recommendations of the study include giving the company management more financial and administrative independence from the Ministry of Oil in the Republic of Yemen, to enable it to apply the developmental work; besides adopting projects and quality strategies (Six Sigma).

Furthermore, the need to apply statistical manipulation methods to control the production quality by the workers in the production lines; since it has a great effect on the production control and improvement, reducing costs, and hence increasing the company's profits.
