The phenomenon of corruption is present in both developed and underdeveloped countries, but to varying degrees.

In the underdeveloped countries commonly known as banana regimes, corruption is rampant and is growing in authoritarian and totalitarian states where the political opposition and civil society are completely erased.

Corruption impacts both the economy and the social sphere by causing the squandering of public goods and weakening investment capacity and growth, and slows down the economic development; this inevitably leads to the prolongation of the phenomenon of underdevelopment in these countries.

In the same way, corruption leads to the development of poverty and unemployment, as well as the collapse of social and moral values that necessarily disintegrate the social fabric by creating new layers and social classes.

To fight against the phenomenon of corruption states have set up mechanisms of struggle both at the international level and at the national level, but despite this anti-corruption mechanism, the fact remains that the underdeveloped countries have not succeeded to stem this scourge on the contrary it is growing year by year.
