Abstract EN

Al-Khawajah at-Tu§i defied the mainstream intellectualism prevailing in his era, calling for a revival in the (1) Shl‘1 established theology, (2) philosophical inquiries, (3) and mystic disciplines.

Along these line, he excelled, par excellence, in reviving philosophical teaching, introducing th e philosophical p roof to the heart o f Islamic theology, and establishing theological terms on philosophical basis.

As per mystic discipline, he plotted the aims and clues o f spirituality, as different from other scholars preceding him, such as ’Ibn Sina.

For him, the very spiritual training, per se, pave the ground for many a stage o f contemplation and action (sayr wa-suluk), bringing the wayfarer to receive the “ immanence o f the One.”
