Abstract EN

Though women’s empowerment remains a complex concept to define accurately, a number of theoretical and empirical studies have stressed its importance, because there are strong links between women’s empowerment, gender equality and development.

Empowerment is the most recent policy approach to integrate women in development and the decision- making process.

Women’s empowerment has a number of forms including social, economic, political, legal, and institutional empowerment.

The major focus of this study, however, is to assess the empowerment of Algerian women from a perspective of their participation in politics, with the aim of developing a theoretical framework showing that the higher efficiency and quality of women’s participation might be a good approach for achieving their political empowerment.
