Abstract EN

This research aims at examining the position of the poet Salah Abdul Sabour (1931-1982) towards the city in his poem "Alkhrooge" and the poet Ahmad Abdul Mu’ti Hijazi (1935-) in his poem "Al tareeq ela Alsaieda".

This position was realized in the themes of alienation, loneliness, hardships, pain, and taking an opposing attitude towards the city.

This study also assesses the impact of this position realized in the two poems on their structure in relation to the following domains: The structure of the title in the two poems, the structure of the parts, the structure of the beginning and end, the peak, and the dependence in both poems on tradition and heritage in building their meanings.

In addition, the study sought to investigate the three artistic patterns (characters, place, and time) in these poems.

Moreover, the language of the two poems is analyzed showing the poets’ vision and poetic experience that indicate much of the poets’ attitudes
