Abstract EN

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of using enrichment homework on the achievement of mathematics for the second grade students in UNRWA schools in Jordan.

The sample size was 148 students divided into two groups : an experimental group and control group.

Each group consisteds of two subgroups that have been chosen randomly out of three sections from two UNRWA schools of South Amman Directorate.

The types of homework were distributed on the two classes randomly and all of these classes studied addition and subtraction through 999.

In order to achieve the aims of the study, the researchers constructed an achievement test consisting of 6-open questions for each unit.

The results of the study revealed that there were statistically significant differences in the achievements in mathematics that can be ascribed to using enrichment homework.

The results showed also that there were no significant differences in the interaction between types of homework (usual, enrichment) and achievement level (high, medium, low) as of the achievement of the student.

In the light of these results, the study recommended the necessity of using the enrichment homework in teaching mathematics.

It is also recommended to use the two types in other subjects, and to measure the time required for each type.
