Abstract EN

This study aims to explore the role of social studies teachers to consolidate the citizenship dimensions from the viewpoints of their students in Al-Sharqia South governorate in Oman.

In addition, the study attempts to examine the effect of a set of variables including gender and the educational stage.

To achieve objectives of study the researchers used the descriptive methodology where the researchers prepared a questionnaire consisting of (30) items, which is divided into four components : rights and duties ; national identity ; belonging ; and participation.

After checking the validity and reliability of the instrument, it was applied to the study sample consisting of (500) students (males and females) from South Sharqia Governate.

The result of the study showed that students viewed social studies teachers enhance citizenship dimensions by a moderate degree (3.47).

In addition, the data revealed statistically significant differences at (a = 0.05) can be attributed to variables of gender in all study areas with exception of rights and duties, which has statistical significance in favor of female students.

The result also indicated statistically significant differences at (a = 0.05) can be attributed to educational stage in favor of basic education stage.
