Abstract EN

This research introduces a new approach to studying the poet Ahmed Shawqi's animal fables.

Usually, these poetic fables were only viewed as serving a political, intellectual, and educational purpose, yet this research focuses on the main theme of 'dominance'.

It assumes the presence of two entities; feminine and masculine, where the relation between them usually follows the notion of the "dominant-diminished".

The masculine seeks the subjugation of the feminine and subsequently her exclusion and deletion.

This paper studies six poems of animal fables written by Shawqi preceded by a preface.

The preface explains the concept of the fable, its emergence as a distinct art, and the peoples who have first introduced it.

It also views the Arabic beginnings of this art in its poetic and prosaic forms.

As previously mentioned, we will discuss six poems written by the Egyp- tian poet, Ahmed Shawqi, in which a conversation takes place among a number of animals and birds.

We will try to detect the well-studied methods and ways used by the male animal or bird to exclude and diminish the female animal or bird.

We will also note the role of the female and her position towards such marginalization and exclusion attempts.
