Abstract EN

The purpose of this working paper is to examine the role of strategic alliances in the transfer of knowledge, and to determine the types of alliances which are more sensitive to organizational learning By using a case study based on a sample of 31 companies operating in the ISMME sector and engaged in cooperation agreements with foreign companies, the results indicate that learning is one of the main motivations for adopting strategic alliances, its show too that joint ventures -and unlike contractual alliances- are an important vector of organizational learning and acquisition of new knowledge and development of technological and organizational resources of the allies.

The study also suggests a positive effect of strategic alliances on human resource performance in the Algerian companies, as it points to the fact that firms which hold innovation projects organize their cooperations in the form of joint ventures
