Perhaps this is the first study which has been done in Iraq concerning the prevalence of the Salmonella disease in horses (isolation and identification of salmonella from horses).

Six hundred and twenty fecal samples were taken from different horse stables in Baghdad Province for 18 months.

The results indicated that 34 animals were infected with percentage of 5.48% and the isolated serotypes were included (13) serotypes and the Salmonella anatum has been isolated mostly with the percentage of 38.2%.
