Abstract EN

This study aims at examining the effect of general constituency system in election law on political parties’ participation in parliamentary election of 2013 in Jordan, through the answering of the follow question: - What is the effect of general constituency system on political parties publicly and official participation in election What is the effect of general constituency system on parties’ motivation to participate in the election? - What is the effect of general constituency system on political parties’ reach to the parliament? The importance of this study comes from the fact that it deals with an important topic related to the impact of the electoral systems on the participation of the parties in the parliamentary elections, specifically the general electoral constituency as a catalyst for this participation.

The study used the system analysis method to answer its questions.

The study revealed the following results: there is a positive relationship between general constituency system and the increase of political parties’ number that participated in parliamentary election in public and official manner.

There is a positive relationship between general constituency system and political parties’ ability increase to reach parliament, in comparison with election systems which were utilized in previous elections.

This ability has increased in general constituency more than local constituency
