Abstract EN

Subsequent to my previous article which I published in Wisdom Magazine’s 16th Issue by the title, “Baptism Between Evidence and Guidance” based upon the understanding of the Qur’anic verse: “(Receive) the baptism of Allah, and who is than Allah in baptising? And Him do we serve.” (Al-Baqara:138) And to complete the topic of this study, I will be analysing the meaning of another Qur’anic verse: “And He bestowed upon you His bounties visible and invisible” Luqman: 20) Humans are composed of biological as well as bodily strengths which impacts learning and the acquisition of knowledge and an inner strength known in the field of the acquisition of knowledge as cognitive faculty.

This study will seek to fathom the meaning of above verse in order to understand this cognitive power and the behaviour resulting from it in the light of the lexical evidence and opinions of Qur’anic exegetists and the modern methodology of the educational psychology in fundamentals of learning and its principles.

To shed further light to the meaning of this verse, I will be taking three opinions from the dictionary meanings as well as three opinions from Qur’anic Exegetists and making Al-Farabi’s opinion in the learning and the acquisition of Knowledge as the paradigm for this.

Any research will find it in line with modern findings in the field of psychology such as: preparedness, predisposition, inclination, desires and needs in the context of the creation of the humans and their composition.

The inner bounties are not discernible to our physical eyes but we will only be able to see them with the help of our insight as a cognitive faculty, apart from the physical ability.

Our human behaviours are born out of these two entities and the studies have conclusively attested to the fact that Baptism and Allah’s bounties have both internal and external dimensions pointing to the creation of humans and their composition and the availability of inner and outer strengths.
