Abstract EN

The Iranian political system is considered as a hard republic due to the mystery surrounding the decision- making process, and the interaction between a large number of institutions “old and new,” “formal and informal,” included within the process.

What makes Iran special in undoubtedly is the fact of being the first Islamic country that has gone through a modern constitutional experience since 1906, which is the result of a success revolution declared by Iranians.

This, in fact, explains and justifies the holiness of constitution as being a fundamental part in the Iranian revolutionary culture which are strongly proud of.

This paper aims at dealing with the Iranian political system through focusing on the formal actors designed by the constitution to be part of the decision- making process which are: the leader( guide), governing authorities( the President, Islamic Council and the Judiciary), decision- making Councils( Leadership Experts Council, Constitution Protection Council, National Interest Complex and National Security Council) respectively.
