Abstract EN

In this paper, we will attempt to study the fields of the traditional dwelling of SIDI OKBA (Biskra), and searching for architectural patterns that distinguish it.

To understand these modes, we relied on the typological approach which aims to clarify the types from functional, spatial, and syntactical perspective.

This study is intended to answer a number of questions related to the architectural and social system.

The main question was: Did the traditional dwelling of SIDI OKBA's town has been developed in order to keep up with the urban expansion of the town? While it included sub-questions as the following: • What are the areas of the traditional dwelling of SIDI OKBA that is fixed and established in its spatial structure? • which areas have been eliminated and dispensed in the architectural structure of the traditional dwelling of SIDI OKBA, and at what historical stage of the town's history was this done? This research paper aims through conducting comparative analysis of studie of thirty traditional dwelling distributed at various historical periods, aiming to recognise the spatial, functional and even social practices that have been reflected in architectural space.

We were able to reach the areas of traditional housing in the town of Sidi Okba which contains three basic functions: housing, livestock, and storage that.
