Abstract AR

At the beginning of the 20th century, Algeria witnessed an intellectual, journalistic and educational movement that largely contributed in motivating the political and cultural scene.

Many scientists and personalities from all over the nation led this Islamic and intellectual movement, in which the province of El-Hodna took an important part; they worked on raising the intellectual and scientific level, the patriotism and to push the region to be in tune with the national changes in resisting colonization.

The 30’s era is considered as the most important period of time of cultural emission that witnessed the region of El-Hodna with the appearance of the reform action that organizes the association of Algerian Muslim Ulama in this zone.

The reform action had managed to boost the renaissance further despite their lateness, though it played a role in raising the national consciousness and the intellectual level which was shaped in the appearance of streams of the national movement in the region, the appearance of the organizing structures of the reform action, such as: educational schools, cultural clubs, free mosques and the media that pushed the society to be freed from the restrictions of Tariqa and of colonization and to be opened on the world and national life in order to take part in the national, cultural and political life.
