Abstract EN
This study aimed to identify the multi-sensory environment known as (Snoezelen), and to clarify the objectives of use for individuals with intellectual disability, in addition to the components of this environment and areas of applications of educating them.
The study used the descriptive and theoretical methodology based on subject literature and previous related studies as the most appropriate for answering the questions of the study.
The questions focused on the concept of multi-sensory environment, methods, uses and goals to be achieved by individuals with intellectual disability.
The results of study showed that multi-sensory environment is an innovative idea containing components and equipment that will provoke and stimulate senses to be ready to perform a specific activity, and the possibility of finding many portals for learning and reducing unwanted behaviors.
The study also highlighted a number of objectives that can be achieved from the use of this environment, including identifying opportunities to stimulate and attract exploration.
Furthermore, aid the development of social relations and improve motor and visual synergy, and support self-confidence, in addition to independence and communication skills with others.
The study also identified a number of multi-sensory environment applications for individuals with intellectual disability to include mass entertainment and performance of senses and sensory experiences for learning opportunities available in the natural environment.
The study resulted to a conclusion and number of recommendations.
