Abstract EN

This study aims at shedding light on the main tributaries that formed the beginning of theatrical awareness in Algeria.

The Algerians have known a number of popular phenomena similar to the art of the theater and practiced it during the occasions of harvest and birth and bring rain and good.

They also knew the art of Karagöz who moved to Algeria during the Ottoman period His performances are a concern for the colonial authorities, which saw in his presentations presented by the occupation soldiers in sarcastic images calling for resistance and fighting the intruder, and then to mention the most important pioneers who contributed their presentations and texts in the first crystallization of the artistic sense among the masses.
