After independence, Algerian society has undergone profound transition in various economic, social and political domains due to the influence of internal and external factors that left remarkable effects on the social structure of society.

In this article, we focus on studying and analyzing the phenomenon of urban growth as one of the main manifestations of social change in contemporary Algerian society.

This will be done through highlighting the stages of urban growth in Algeria, as well as identifying the problems and impacts caused by this phenomenon.
