Abstract EN

Use of smart phones and mobile applications is increasing, historically, in an unprecedented rate.

We are living in a mobile-applications boom.

Mobile applications have influenced the way we communicate, market products, shop for goods, and the way we learn.

This paper explores the potential of utilizing mobile applications in higher education institutes to retain knowledge.

A .mobile application, Edmodo, was used in a business college for an introductory IT course.

The purpose of this study is to compare results of mobile applications use on students against students who were taught in a conventional way by same teachers.

The samples were students from Business Schools.

We divided them into two groups: control and experimental.

Students in the control group have their test scores from lectures taught using traditional methods.

The experimental group test scores from lectures taught using mobile application (Edmodo).

The results indicated that the test score of students tauglit using mobile application were higher than the student taught using traditional methods of learning.

The students’ ability to review, summarize and memorize when studied with mobile application were higher than when they studied using traditional methods.

There was a significant correlation be tween the test score using mobile application and traditional methods of learning.

The results from statistical analysis show that mobile applications could be used effectively in teaching and learning.
