Abstract EN

This paper aims to discuss the internal migration in the Sudan and its effects on the distribution of the population between the states.

The paper depends on the data of the fifth national population census 2008 and other governmental reports.

The analysis of this data reveals that the high mobility of the population between the states is a product of highly economic differences between the states, conflicts and natural hazards.

It is found that most poor states send migrants and so lose part of its population like Darfur, Kurdofan River Nile and the North state.

While prosperous states gain population, Khartoum state, Kassala, El-Gadaref, and Red Sea states.

The state of Khartoum gains more than half of migrate population, because it is the capital town and got the best services, chance of jobs and work opportunities.

Moreover migrants find the best transportation media which shorten the distance and save the time.
