Abstract EN

The Yacht El-Mahrousa was named after the name of Egypt as "Misr EL Mahrosa".

It was manufactured by a British company, called "Samouda", by the order of Egypt’s governor Khedive Ismail, in 1863.

The Yacht's first journey was from London port to Alexandria.

The Yacht is 411 foot long, 42 foot wide, and its capacity is 3400 Ions.

It has eight Armstrong missiles, to defend the Yacht against any marine attack.

The Yacht witnessed_critical events in Egyptian history, of these; king Farouk surrender.

He obligated to depart from Egypt to an Italian island called Cabry on deck of El-Mahrosa after 23 July Revolution, which ended the monarchy of Mohamed Ali family.

President Gamal Abd El Naser ordered to change the name of the Yacht to "AL-Horia", which means fi'eedom.

However, people and journalists retained the name EL-Mahrosa.

In 2000, the former President Hosni Mubark, officially ordered changing the name to AL-Horia.

This history details still spread within the Yacht, which stands in the Kaser El Teen coastline in Alexandria.
